Well, this past weekend was certainly an awesome one!!
Saturday evening, I went to pick up Zack and Michael for the weekend. They were out of school Monday and today (Tuesday), so I didn’t have to take them home until today! We had so much fun!
Saturday evening the boys helped me get all of the yard work done. Most kids complain about having to do tons of chores, and while I’m sure they don’t WANT to do them, the boys never complain about chores… they just do them, get them done, and move on. They really are big helps around the house – inside and out!
Sunday after church we finished up the yard work. Sunday evening, Michael and Donna baked cookies so the kids would have some to decorate on Monday. Meanwhile, Maggi settled in to sleep while Zack and I watched a scary movie! It is Halloween time, after all! Besides, Zack and I LOVE horror flicks!
Monday, we had Marci Manning and her kids over to visit. What fun! I grilled hamburgers and hot dogs while the kids instantly took to each other. They were all over the place! Outside playing, inside playing, outside playing… if we would have let them on top of the house, they’d have played up there, too! They decorated the cookies that Donna and Michael baked, played baseball outside, played Rock Band, and just generally had lots of fun. Needless to say, last night, we ALL slept like rocks!
Today, Zack helped me cook breakfast. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage! Mmm mmm! Michael got some reading done for school, then Zack and I went outside and I practiced with him (he and I both play trombone). We all spent a lot of time together today, and we hated to say goodbye. Maggi rode with me to take the boys home. When they got out of the van, they gave her hugs and kisses, and she cried for them! She didn’t want them to go. She really, really loves them and she misses them when they’re not here.
So that was the weekend. We had so much fun! We can’t wait to get the boys again and have the Mannings over to “play”. =) Michael asked today “If we come over here to go trick-or-treating on Halloween, can we ask them to come with us?” It’s nice to have friends!
Lots of love!! - Patrick
