Well, Maggi has made it through another surgery! On March 7, 2012, Maggi had her 15th surgery. Dr. Devito lengthened the rod in Maggi’s back, and she has been doing great! No fevers, only took pain meds for a couple of days after, and she’s just generally happier after this surgery than after any other surgery she’s ever had.
Her next spine surgery will be a little bigger than the last couple. Dr. Devito will be replacing the rod in Maggi’s back. The one in there now is at full extension, so the next step is to put in a longer one. That surgery will be in about 6 months or so. Maggi will be 7 years old then!!! Can you believe it?? The rod replacement will most likely mean more recovery time, but we’re prepared.
